Julia Momosé is an award-winning bartender, author, hospitality leader, and pioneer of the spiritfree movement. Born and raised in Japan and now based in Chicago, she is the co-owner and Executive Chef of Kumiko, the acclaimed Japanese dining bar recognized for its thoughtful integration of food, drink, and hospitality.

Momosé has spent her career exploring how beverages can create connection, belonging, and memorable experiences at the table. Her approach draws from Japanese traditions of craftsmanship, seasonality, and care, while embracing the diversity of influences that have shaped her journey between cultures. Through her work, she has become one of the hospitality industry's most respected voices, known for bringing equal attention to technical excellence and genuine human connection.

She is the author of The Way of the Cocktail and has been recognized internationally for her contributions to hospitality and beverage culture. Through her work at Kumiko and beyond, she continues to advocate for a more thoughtful, inclusive, and deeply human approach to hospitality.
