Christine Kim stands as Lead Bartender and Partner at Service Bar, the Washington, D.C. cocktail institution recognized on North America's 50 Best Bars list every year since its inception in 2022. In 2025, Kim was named U.S. Bartender of the Year by Tales of the Cocktail, honoring her decade-plus of excellence, creativity, and hospitality behind the bar. A native of Silver Spring, Maryland, Kim's love affair with hospitality began in high school, but it wasn't until 2011—after a move to Washington, D.C. and her first bartending gig—that she found her true calling in the world of craft cocktails. It became her gateway, but it was the thrill of high-volume, high-energy nightlife that cemented her path. As her career progressed, she helped open and develop programs at many restaurants and bars.

In 2016, Kim reunited with friends Chad Spangler and Glendon Hartley to open what would become one of the most acclaimed cocktail bars in the country: Service Bar. Service Bar has been thrice nominated for U.S. Best Bar Team at Tales of the Cocktail (2023, 2024, 2025); thrice nominated for U.S. Best Cocktail Bar (2023, 2024, 2025); and continues to be a cornerstone of D.C.'s hospitality landscape.

Kim's influence extends beyond the bar. She is a board member of Chefs for Equality, advocating for LGBTQ+ rights and equity through the food and beverage industry. She was a fi nalist for U.S. Bartender of the Year in 2024 before ultimately winning the title in 2025. In 2026 she is a semifinalist for a James Beard Award, and featured in Imbibe's 75. She has been involved with local charities in her city, and abroad. She has been a long time member of the D.C. Craft Bartender's Guild, along with the U.S. Bartender's Guild - DC Chapter during its tenure.
