Libby Lingua, Mixologist

Mitch Lyons and Libby Lingua are the co-founders of Highball Cocktail Bar in downtown Phoenix, an award-winning neighborhood cocktail lounge recognized for inventive beverage programming, genuine hospitality, and an inviting, comfort-driven atmosphere. The pair first joined forces in 2016 at Barter & Shake Hospitality, where they played integral roles in developing and operating acclaimed concepts including UnderTow and Century Grand before opening Highball in the fall of 2020.

Unlike many operators, Mitch and Libby remain hands-on bartenders, working behind the bar, leading service, and actively shaping the guest experience on a daily basis. Their continued presence in service keeps Highball grounded in real-time hospitality, allowing them to refine programs and operations from both a creative and practical perspective.

Since opening, Highball has earned national recognition as one of the country's premier cocktail destinations. Between their work at Barter & Shake and Highball, Mitch and Libby have received 13 Tales of the Cocktail Spirited Awards nominations, including nine for Highball and four during their tenure at Barter & Shake. In 2026, Highball was recognized as a Top 10 U.S. Cocktail Bar and Top 10 U.S. Bar Team by the Spirited Awards. Individually, Libby was named a Top 4 U.S. Bartender of the Year finalist in both 2025 and 2026, a distinction she has been grateful to receive. Highball has also been named to North America's 50 Best Bars inaugural extended list, ranking #97 in the 2025 ranking.

Together, Mitch and Libby bring more than 35 years of hospitality experience, combining creative beverage innovation with operational excellence to build one of Arizona's most celebrated bar programs. Their shared philosophy of thoughtful hospitality, technical precision, and approachable creativity continues to define Highball's identity and national reputation.
